Does a ‘Western Diet’ Increase Risk of Alzeheimer’s Disease?

Could eating a western diet combined with a sedentary lifestyle increase the possibility of developing Alzheimer’s disease? Some researchers are beginning to think this may be the case. It is estimated that 25% of Alzheimer’s cases may be from patients who eat a western diet and lead a sedentary lifestyle. However, there is little known between what the actual connection is between these choices and the disease. In a paper published online in Nature Scientific Reports, researchers led by Tufts University/The Jackson Library (JAX) PhD student Leah Graham and JAX Assistant Professor Gareth Howell, PhD, took a closer look at connections between diet and Alzheimer’s disease susceptibility.
