In this study, researchers set out to find a connection between gadolinum exposure and parkinsonism. Gadolinum-based contrast agents are used during MRIs. In the past, safety concerns have emerged about the effects these contrast agents could potentially have on the brain. Previous studies have shown neurotoxic effects when these agents were used on animals. This study looked at 246,557 patients of which 99,739 of them underwent at least one MRI with contrast.
