Current research has shown that noninvasive stimulation of a specific area of the brain can reduce food cravings for patients. However, there is no real evidence that shows this type of brain stimulation reduces the actual amount of food that is consumed. The area that is being targeted is known as the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC).
