Penn and VA-led study analyzed medical records of 15,000 Parkinson’s patients

With Parkinson’s, there is a good chance that patients will experience some type of psychosis at some point during the course of their illness. During this time, most physicians prescribe antipsychotic drug to treat their symptoms. In a new study by researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Michigan Medical School and the Philadelphia and Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers, findings indicate that these antipsychotic drugs may be doing more harm than good to patients.
